Demetrios Papageorgiou is the founder of Solid-State Research, Inc. He received his BSEE, MSEE, and Ph.D. from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 1995, 1998, and 2000, respectively. His dissertation work involving microfluidic devices for implantable microsystems was completed under the direction of Dr. Kensall D. Wise. He has over 4 years experience working in start-ups and small businesses focused on MEMS sensors and sensing microsystems. In addition, he has 5 years experience in academia, most recently holding a joint position in the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Departments at Northeastern University. While in academia, he ran a MEMS consulting company, Solid-State Research L.L.C. where he worked with businesses to take sensors from concept through various stages of developments. His experience includes explosives detection sensors, MEMS sensor-based health monitoring systems, inventory tracking microsystems, inertial sensors, chemical delivery microfluidic systems, and more.
